Heat Pump
Another popular method of heating your pool is to invest in a heat pump. The advantages of these are that they do not take up much space, are relatively cheap to run, and are extremely efficient.
Calorex 31 range heat pumps are specifically designed for swimming pool heating. This means that all components used in their construction are designed to give maximum efficiency at swimming pool conditions. Furthermore, the choice of material and construction will give years of trouble free service.
How does it Work?
A heat pump works similarly to a solar heating system, by converting the outside temperature into heat for the pool. It achieves this by moving air via a large fan through a heater. The warm air passes over an evaporator containing liquid which boils at a very low temperature. When this liquid turns to vapour, it becomes compressed which increases the temperature by 5 or 6 times. For every unit of electricity used to run the compressor, you gain up to 6 free units to heat the pool. A heat pump looks similar to a large air conditioning unit, and has to be installed outdoors.
The advantages of Heat Pumps:
- Low operating cost;
- 74% less emissions than an oil boiler;
- Heat pumps do not require flues or fuel storage tanks;
- Heat pumps do not require large electrical supplies;
- Long service life;
- Minimal servicing;
- Heat pumps are fully automatic - just set the thermostat and let the heat pump do the rest;
- Heat pumps can be installed outside.
